Event Summary and Photos:

Association of Australian Education Representatives in India (AAERI) Has been growing in stature and this was in full display at the AAERI 21st Year convention The Henry Jones Art Hotel on 11th October 2017. An over-subscribed event where we had to unfortunately turn down requests but still had 125+ key Education Providers, Government Agencies and certainly the AAERI members from India, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection presentation by Alice Maclean at the Association of Australian Education Representatives in India (AAERI) convention in Hobart was one of the most sought after attraction. One takeaway is clear. The Department works closely with AAERI and is ever open to suggestions and making course corrections. And the message for all agents (from India, Nepal and Bangladesh) and providers making noise over the recent AL changes: It is not going to make much difference. Integrity measures will kick in now and students unable to demonstrate (if and when asked) one year funds as detailed in the Agent Digest will face refusal of visa. Time to watch out..

"We have no issues with Education Agent Performance Data being shared with Universities (despite the data being faulty since the performance doesn't consider the influences that the student has onshore) PROVIDED the agents are also provided the data for the Universities and how they take care of the International students, what is their visa success rate and what percentage complete the program without taking a transfer. Offshore agents will then be able to better guide the students"...  this point being made to the Department of Education and Training by AAERI.

One of the finest presentations at the AAERI 2017 convention was by Monty Singh. Monty Singh demonstrated how overseas study allows a student to make a fresh start in a new country without any biases for how one may have performed academically in the home country and allows one to flourish without being judged. His own journey as an international student to his current role as Director-International Southern Cross University is remarkable. The anecdotes on what all he worked as to earn his part time income brought smile to the event. Hats off for your open-ness. Points so well made. Wish we had recorded the presentation...
